Jim served in the Navy during WWII from 1942-1946 as a water tender on the USS Plunkett DD-431. He married Betty Kneemiller in New York while he was on short leave. After the war he returned home and worked for Goddard Motors until he built his own business that he ran for fifty plus years, Trio Motors Inc., in St Charles MO. His sons and grandson worked alongside him for many years. He was a proud member of the Tin Can Sailors and attended several reunions for the Plunkett. Later he received recognition in the book “Unsinkable” by Jim Sullivan.
He gave true meaning to the word “Gentleman” embodying the essence of kindness, respect, and integrity. He believed in treating others with dignity and grace, and his actions consistently reflected these values. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take solace in knowing his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched. Rest in peace Jim your attributes will live on.
