Dearest husband of 64 years to Claretta Nelson; dear son of the late Emma Nelson; devoted father of James W. (Kathleen) Nelson, Linda McAnulty and Donald Nelson; cherished grandfather of 9 and great-grandfather of 22. James was a proud WWII Veteran with the US Marines; a Purple Heart and Navy Cross recipient; former Deputy Sheriff; St. Louis County Sgt. Police Officer and the Chief of Police at UMSL.
