James L. “Jim” Schweigert
May 5, 1941 — October 9, 2020
James L. “Jim” Schweigert, of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at the age of 79. Loving husband of Kathryn J. Schweigert; beloved son of the late Hilda and Louis Schweigert; devoted father of Todd (Cheryl) Schweigert and Kimberly (Mark) Schroeder; cherished grandfather of Sarah Schroeder, Chelsea Schweigert, Jason (Kelly) Schroeder, Lindsey (Ty) Shearon, Karlee (Kyle) Osborn, Jennifer (Noah) Levin, and Colton Schweigert; treasured great-grandfather of Jace Shearon; dear brother of Mary Lou (Dale) Vineyard and Dorothy "Tootie" (Marv) Jeffers; brother-in-law of Don Pogue and Marlene Schweigert. Jim was also preceded in death by his siblings, Laverne (Cletus) Moore, Shirley Pogue, and Robert Schweigert.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He went to work for MEMC in St. Peters, MO, and retired after more than 34 years in the Maintenance Utility department.
Jim loved working outside in the yard and keeping the landscape well-groomed. He was handy at home improvements, and could fix just about anything, although he might have a good word or two during his project. He also religiously washed his truck or car.
In his younger years, Jim enjoyed hunting with his son for many years. He loved going on cruises with his wife, all over the world to Hawaii, Alaska, the Eastern Coast, and most of the Islands. As an outdoorsman, he really enjoyed visiting the national parks, and he even hiked the Grand Canyon with some of his buddies. Of all the parks, his favorite was Yellowstone, where he could see the animals up close.
Most of all, Jim loved his family dearly. He looked forward to attending all of his children and grandchildren's sporting and school events. He cherished being a Dad and Grandpa. He had many friends and was known for his great smile. Jim was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
