James W. “Jim” Looney, of O'Fallon, Missouri, was Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the age of 80. Loving husband of 57 years to Patricia K. Looney; beloved son of the late Florence and William M. Looney; devoted father of Teresa Looney, Michael (Stephanie) Looney, Daniel (Diana) Looney, and Kevin (Elizabeth) Looney; cherished grandfather of Erin Looney, Brian Looney, Emily Looney, Katie Looney, Sean Looney, Megan Looney, and Trisha Looney.
Jim met his wife, Patricia, while working at McDonnell Douglas. Pat dropped him a note while he was delivering the mail and the rest was history! He liked to travel, especially to Hawaii, Ireland, and England. He and his wife traveled through all 50 states and celebrated their 40th anniversary in Alaska. Together, they always looked forward to annual family vacations. James was deeply involved within his community, as a Cub Scout Leader, a Eucharistic Minister at church, a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and a moderator for the CYC.
In his younger years, Jim enjoyed going to The Fox or The Muny with his wife and friends almost every weekend. He also liked going to the movies, the Zoo, and having picnics with family and friends. He loved fishing and made his own fly lures, and he never went anywhere without his fishing pole. Some of his favorite places to cast were Table Rock, Lake Taneycomo, and the Lake of the Ozarks.
Jim loved to golf with his dad and uncle, in both his younger years and throughout his retirement. More than anything, he was a major fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and never missed a game. And, whether he was watching or listening, the game was always on.
Jim was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made in Jim's name to Parkinson's Foundation or Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation.
