James Marcus Waddell, Jr. passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the age of 84. He always maintained that he lived a productive life and having reached 84 he was ready to pay his respects to his maker. He was born at home in Amigo, WV, on 26 February 1930, the oldest of eight brothers and one sister, Robert J. Waddell, Joseph R. Waddell, Jack T. Jennelle, Norman Pinkney Jennelle, (Mocky), Bernard Lee Jennelle, Henry H. Jennelle, (Butch) and Betty Gay Jennelle.
He was a graduate of Stoco High School at Lego, WV. And graduated from Tarkio College in Tarkio MO. He spent 6 years in the U.S. Navy and was part of the commissioning crew of the U.S.S. Salem and later attended electronics school at Treasure Island CA. After graduation from electronics school he returned to the U.S.S. Pittsburgh where he served until discharged with the rate of Fire Control Second Class. He later worked with the Department of Army as a civilian for 27 years in Electronics Quality Control and ten years as president of NFFE Local 405 and National Vice President.
Upon retirement from the Department of the Army Civilian he became a novelist and short story author with Infinity Press and Amazon.
He is survived by his wife Chris, 5 children Cheri, Stephanie, Robyn, Brian, and Trevor, and 11 grandchildren.
