James Richard Bauer, of O Fallon, Missouri, passed away Sunday March 11, 2018, at the age of 84. Loving husband of Ruth Bauer; beloved son of the late Paul and Apollonia Bauer; devoted father of Lori (Bill) Wortmann, Larry (Tonya) Bauer, Donald (Heidi) Bauer, and Dale Bauer; cherished grandfather of Tara (Matt) Forrester, Tate (Morgan) Bauer, Bud Bauer, Daniel Wortmann, Ryan Wortmann, Chase Bauer, Carter Bauer, Tyler Wortmann, Josie Bauer, Jackson Bauer, Mason Bauer, and Camryn Bauer; treasured great-grandfather of Macie, Sawyer, and Hattie; dear brother-in-law of Gen Bauer, Harriet Bauer, and Marilyn Bauer.
James is preceded in death by his brothers, Cornelius Bauer, Sylvester Bauer, Edwin Bauer, Victor Bauer, Arthur Bauer, Lee Bauer, and his sisters, Madeline (Harry) Gibson, Ester Bauer, and Sally (Glennon) Ohlms.
Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired after more than 30 years as a foreman for O’Fallon Lumber. He was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Men’s Sodality. Jim was raised on a farm, and later loved tending to his garden every year.
Jim enjoyed fishing anywhere he could, and bowling was a favorite pastime he looked forward to with his wife. He was an avid sports fan, and liked watching the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved spending time with his family and going on family vacations. James was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
