James R. Berhorst, of St. Charles, MO, Saturday September 2, 2017, age 87. Beloved son of the late Stephen and Marie Berhorst; devoted father of Sue Berhorst and Kathy (Daniel) Forster; cherished grandfather of Zack Fiordimondo, Angie Fiordimondo, Mike Scotino, Daniel Forster, Jamie Ludwig, and Brad Forster; great-grandfather of Jonas Smith, Adrianne Fiordimondo, Konnor Kadel, Anthony Fiordimondo, Isabella Fiordimondo, Bradan Forster, James Forster, Heidi Forster, Dailyn Ludwig, and Myles Ludwig; dear brother of Richard Berhorst, Stephen (Joyce) Berhorst, and Rose Marie Harris. James proudly served his country in the US Navy, as a Medical Corpsman in the Korean War. James retired from McDonnell Douglas, where he designed wings on many of the F series planes and also worked on the Apollo and Gemini projects with NASA. He was very intelligent, and loved a good debate. He loved flowers and gardening, and loved planting tomatoes above all else. He was an environmentalist and loved the Earth, and recycled before it was a popular thing to do. James loved Spaghetti Westerns and his friends and family knew never to call him when “Judge Judy” was on! He was a “Ford man”, enjoyed cruises, and especially his time as a “Snowbird”, spending his winters in McAllen, Texas. James will be dearly remembered as a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and loyal friend. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
