Jane C. Smith

Jane C. Smith (nee Borgmeyer), of St. Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the age of 83. Loving wife of the late Gary E Smith of St. Charles for 59 years; beloved daughter of the late Ralph and Melvina (nee Prinster) Borgmeyer; devoted mother of Dave (Donna) Smith and stepmother of Debra (Frank) Schimonitz; cherished grandmother of Christina (Kevin) Reilly and Robert (Kristy) Pedroli; treasured great-grandmother of Shea (Hunter) Newton and Matthew Pedroli; dear sister of Marge (Don) Blevins, Laverne (the late Charles) Mennemeier, and Mary (Bill) Hembrock; sister-in-law of Sandy (Richard) Garrett, and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Jane is also preceded in death by her siblings Ruth Borgmeyer, William Borgmeyer, Don (Joan) Borgmeyer, and Betty (Jerry) Flick

Jane worked most of her life as a member of Teamster Local 688 at Wetterau Foods (Super Valu) in Hazelwood, MO for thirty-one years. She retired from there in 1998. After that she worked for the City of St. Charles in the water department until 2002 when her husband retired.

Jane portrayed Mrs. Claus at Christmas at St. John's Mercy Hospital and their Senior Center. It gave her great satisfaction to shop for gifts for the patients and see their eyes light up no matter how big the gift. Jane was a member of the St. Anne Sodality at St. Peter Church and enjoyed working at the rummage sale and card parties. Her favorite pastime was bingo and cards.

Memorials may be made in Jane's name to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) or St. Peter Church.
