Janet Kay DeMent

Janet Kay DeMent (nee Townzen), of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, at the age of 84. Loving wife of the late Linden "Burke" B. DeMent; beloved daughter of the late George E. and Frankie Florine Townzen; devoted mother of Melinda (Harold) Ambrose, Linden A. DeMent and Kristanna L. DeMent; cherished grandmother of Linden T DeMent, Rachael M. (Joseph A.) Fairman, Leah Ann (Luis) Caso, Lindsey K. (Nicolas Gallagher) Ambrose, and Michael D. (Karissa Cureton) Ambrose; treasured great-grandmother of Skylar A. Melton and Elah R. Caso; and is also survived by many nieces and nephew whom she loved dearly. Janet is also preceded in death by her brother, Donald W. Townzen and sister, George Ann Bergschneider.

Janet was always an adventurer, eager to travel and go on family vacations. She loved discovering new places and experiences. Always putting others before herself, Janet made sure to do what others wanted, spreading joy and consideration wherever she went. She had a passion for reading books and playing tennis, but above all, she cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A wonderful cook, Janet brought warmth and love into every meal she prepared. She embraced life fully and treasured the people around her. As a colon cancer survivor, Janet exemplified strength and resilience, she was one tough cookie. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
