Jan was a very intelligent woman, deeply passionate about her family and her work as a child psychologist. She achieved her Master’s degree in School Psychology at Southern Illinois University -Edwardsville in 1981. Jan worked in several schools throughout her career and was known for her diagnostic skills, her exceptional ability to make it easy for teachers to understand psychological and educational test results, and be able to apply them to a child's learning style. She also developed and maintained a successful private practice throughout her long career. Jan's work was an integral part of her identity.

Jan enjoyed painting, writing poetry, and baking. She cherished family moments, from annual Muny trips ending with Ted Drews, to fun vacations and yearly trips to her childhood home in Indiana, and experiences with her grandchildren. She loved Christmas, collected Santas and always made Christmas magical for her grandkids. Jan and her beloved husband Ray of 20 years, the love of her life, enjoyed watching college basketball, especially their favorite team, Kansas Jayhawks, and cheering and watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Rams, and Blues with their adored dog Ella. Jan was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made in Janice's name to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).
