Jean Kay Grant

June 21, 1947 — September 2, 2024

Saint Charles, Missouri

Jean Kay Grant (nee Nixon), of St. Charles, MO, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024, at the age of 77. Beloved wife of Dennis M. Grant; cherished daughter the late Marie and Norman Nixon. Devoted mother of Joseph Grant, Mary Grant, Stephanie Grant, and Jennifer (Jacob) Bolzenius; loving grandmother of Emilia and Elliott Bolzenius; dear sister of the late Norma (James) Moranville, and Joan Ann (the late George) Bartley; sister-in-law of Roger (the late Joann) Grant, John (the late Linda) Grant, and Gerald Grant.

Jean saw great value in education and devoted her life to teaching. She was known for being kind, positive, and was highly skilled at helping all students succeed. Over her 35 years of teaching, she impacted countless students at various grade levels and instilled a love for education in anyone she met.

Jean was selflessly devoted to her family, and being with them was her greatest joy. She was a dedicated wife to her husband for 53 years, loving mother to her four children and son-in-law, and adoring grandmother to her two grandchildren. Jean loved her parents and sisters immensely and she truly cherished their close-knit bond. Nieces and nephews were always in her thoughts, even if miles separated them. She looked forward to every family gathering as a way to create lifelong memories. She did not love in just one way; she loved each of her family members in a way special to them, nurturing and helping them to become fully who they are. Her warmth and caring had no bounds and often extended beyond her family. Jean had many friends who will miss her dearly. Jean had a special group of friends affectionately known as “The Ladies” with whom she enjoyed going to dinner and taking trips.

Jean loved being creative. She elaborately decorated her classroom, crafted intricate school banners, helped create impressive school projects with her children, and sewed beautiful costumes, blankets, and bibs for her family. She also enjoyed vacations and baking as a way to connect with family and friends. Jean had a deep devotion to her Catholic faith, acting as a Eucharistic Minister for her parish, guiding her 2nd grade students as they prepared for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion, developing plans for special school Masses while teaching at St. Charles Borromeo, and creating activities for religion classes that were published nationally through Today’s Catholic Teacher. Jean is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
