Jeanie Sue Kirk, of St. Charles, MO passed away peacefully on May 8, 2022 following a lengthy illness.
Jeanie was born in Rockville, Indiana on August 25th, 1948 to Marjorie Sue Beatty and Virgil McClellan Beatty. Following her graduation from Rockville High School in 1966, Jeanie went on apply her passion and dedication to many different career fields.
Jeanie had many interests and vocations throughout her life. She was an accomplished singer and pianist, receiving many awards for her performances. As a mezzo soprano, Jeanie enjoyed singing classical and operatic music. She was a choir director for her church and always enjoyed teaching piano to young students.
Jeanie held a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Pittsburg State University, a Masters of Science Degree in Public Health from the University of Iowa and Masters Degree in Counseling from Lindenwood University.
While a student at Pittsburg State University, Jeanie wrote and directed multiple plays as well as performing in university opera productions.
At The University of Iowa, Jeanie excelled in both academics and scientific research. She was an integral part of a research team conducting leading edge research in the field of oxidative biochemistry. Jeanie was senior author on a research paper published in Nature scientific journal. This paper addressed the role of reactive oxygen species in regulating physiological process and the pathology of disease processes.
After returning to St. Charles to be closer to her family, Jeanie completed a Master’s Degree in Counseling at Lindenwood University. She joined the faculty as an Adjunct Professor, and taught graduate level courses in the Counseling Department. As a therapist, Jeanie maintained a private practice.
For all her professional accomplishments, the common thread throughout her life was the boundless love and care for her family and friends. She showered her family and friends with patience, kindness, caring, insights, and wisdom. She was a true blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Jeanie passed down many gifts to her children and grandchildren, including strength , intuition, and perseverance. She sought wisdom and truth; as a counselor, she was a healing presence to others. She showed us what it means to care for others, pursue your dreams, and use your gifts. We will continue to feel her loving presence in all that we do, remembering her words: “The kindness you do comes back to bless you.” May we honor Jeanie by living in kindness.
Jeanie Sue Kirk (nee Beatty), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022 at the age of 73. Beloved wife of Donald R. Kirk; cherished daughter of the late Marjorie and Virgil Beatty; devoted mother of Lincoln (Sonya) Kirk and Molly (Jim) Hartigan; loving grandmother of Andre (Katelyn) Poulin, Zane Kirk, Emma Kirk, Kelly Hartigan and Henry Hartigan; treasured great-grandmother of Atticus Poulin; dear sister of the late Steve (Shirley survives) Beatty; aunt of Michael Beatty; great aunt of Joey Beatty. Jeanie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
