Jerome A. Mennemeier

July 7, 1952 — August 7, 2021

Jerome “Jerry” A. Mennemeier of Wentzville, MO, passed away at the age of 69 on Saturday, August 7, 2021. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Mennemeier; his parents, Raphael and Mary Rose Mennemeier; and his brother, Richard Mennemeier.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Cheryl Mennemeier; his son, Jeremy C. Mennemeier; his stepchildren, Robert M. Blackson, Melissa Deatherage, Scott R. (Jamie) Blackson, and Lauren (Steven) Edwards; his eleven grandchildren; his siblings, Kathy (Marion) Perica, Mark (Paula) Mennemeier, Robert (Leanne) Mennemeier, Frank (Debbie) Mennemeier, Theresa (Roger) Burkemper, Lisa (Rick) Bampton, and Bernie Mennemeier; and he was an uncle, great-uncle, and friend to many.

Jerry served four years in the Air Force as an equipment operator with roads and grounds as a Staff Sergeant. He then spent 8 years in the National Guard as a helicopter refueler as a Staff Sergeant. He went on to spend 32 years as a firefighter at Whiteman Air Force Base for the 509th bomb wing and retired as a GS-7 Crew Chief.

Jerry loved EVERYTHING outdoors - nature, survival, hunting, fishing, camping...most of all he loved travel. He saw and traveled to every state in the United States except for Hawaii. He traveled internationally to Canada. He saw every national monument and national park that his vehicle could get him to.

In 1994, he settled down and built his own little homestead on 124 acres just South of Whiteman Air Force base. There he spent his time digging fossils, gold panning, looking for arrowheads in creeks, and wandering his property hunting and fishing. In 2016 his health kept him from keeping up with his property so he sold his farm and moved to Warrensburg. In the spring of 2018 he moved back home to Wentzville where he reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Cheryl. They married and he spent the last of his days happy.
