Jim Huckelberry

January 14, 1950 — February 6, 2020

Jim Huckelberry, of Saint Louis, MO, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the age of 70. Beloved husband of Linda (Miller) Huckelberry for over 23 years; cherished son of the late Berthold and Constance Huckelberry; devoted father of Katie (Brad) Elbert, Natalie Huckelberry; treasured grandfather of Memphis and Phoenix Elbert; dear brother of the late Carmen Forrester; dear brother-in-law of Michael (Beverly) Miller; loving uncle, cousin and friend to many, he never knew a stranger.

Jim was a gifted musician and guitarist. His love for playing the guitar began as a child, joining his first band at the age of 13. His love of music drew him to Nashville where he recorded, performed and toured with various artists including Vern Gosdin, Bobby Bare, Terry Gibbs and Suzy Bogguss for 13 years. He returned to St. Louis and worked with various bands including Brian Clarke and the St. Louis Browns, Patti & the Hitmen and Fanfare. He retired from band performances, but his passion for music never waned; asking for his guitar even as he lay in bed only weeks before his passing.

Jim had many friends and a loving family. His daughters Katie and Natalie were his beloved“puddin' heads”. He was an especially dedicated father to daughter Natalie, born with Prader-Willi Syndrome.  He was by her side during countless therapies and numerous surgeries.  He was thrilled when Brad joined the family and he adored his grandsons, Memphis (“Joy-Boy”) and Phoenix (“Little Tornado”).

Jim was kind-hearted and dearly loved. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and therapists at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Siteman Cancer Center in St. Peters, BJC Hospice and Evelyn's House who provided him exceptional loving care from the onset of his cancer diagnosis to the moment his body could no longer fight.

Jim was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in Jim's name to Evelyn's House or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.
