Jo Ann Lesch (nee Hast), of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the age of 81. Loving wife of the late Mike Lesch; beloved daughter of Edna and Harry Hast; devoted mother of Dale Lesch and Cindy Barry; cherished grandmother of Samantha Schurwan, Brandon Barry, and Kade (Mia) Barry; treasured great-grandmother of Eris Schurwan, Lilith Schurwan, and Ezra Schurwan; dear sister of David (Clara) Hast and Linda Bowman; and also survived by her beloved dog, Chloe.
Jo Ann was a dedicated member of the National Educators Association. She loved her dog, Chloe, who was considered a member of the family. She was an avid reader and loved to cook. Her inspiring personality led to the creation of the baton twirler statue at the Airway Drive-In in St. Ann. Jo Ann cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was actively involved in both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Her love for teaching was evident as she always captivated her audience with her stories. Jo Ann was a true adventurer and enjoyed traveling, which included zip lining in the rainforest, dog sledding in Alaska, and visiting all 50 states. She had a passion for musicals and theater. Her presence will be dearly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Memorials may be made in Jo Ann's name to Alzheimer's Association and The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
