Joan (Jody) R. Davidson (nee Reese), 92, of O’Fallon, Missouri, formally of Joplin, Missouri, entered into the presence of her Heavenly Father on December 24, 2020. She was born to Guy and Winfred Reese on December 20, 1928, in Cassville, Missouri. She responded to the call of Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young adult and “fought the good fight” to the very end of her life.
Jody graduated from Sarcoxie High School in 1942 and attended Missouri State Teachers College in Springfield, Missouri.
She married Raymond “Jack” Davidson on September 11, 1951, and they had three children, RP “Jack” Davidson, M.D. (Jan) of St. Louis, Terri Lynn Loney (Steve) of Lampe, Missouri and Gilbert, Arizona, and Amy Beth Anderson (Michael) of O’Falon, Missouri.
Jody worked at the Missouri Division of Employment Security for many years before retiring in 1996. She moved to St. Louis in 1998.
Jody was a loyal “Cheerleader” for her son-in-law’s college and professional football teams, granddaughter’s Arizona State Lady Sun Devils, Grandson-in-law’s Valparaiso Crusader basketball team, and any team in which her grandchildren participated. The echo of “Go, Go, Go” will forever be heard by her family!
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Joplin, Missouri, where you would find her singing in the choir every Sunday. Upon moving to O’Fallon, Missouri, she joined the Dardenne Presbyterian Church, where she attended Bible Studies, book clubs, assisted with Wednesday night dinners, and was a member of the quilt club, making several hand-made quilts for individual members of her family. She was also a member of P.E.O.
Jody’s greatest joys were her ten grandchildren, Matt (Michelle), Katie (Jake), Kylan (Matt), Pearse (Lacy), Emily (Alonso), Elise, Tyler, Luke, Brady, and Eli. In addition, she loved her twelve great-grandchildren, Tucker, Birk, Nash, Keaton, Grace, Matthan, Christian, Landon, Harper, Landry, Ford, and Teddy!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Winfred Reese; stepmother, Mae Reese; husband, Jack Davidson; two sisters, Kathleen Holland and Arneta Casey; and brother, Guy Reese. She is survived by her children; sister, Donna Kissee (Karl); brother-in-law, Bob Davidson (Laveta); and many nieces and nephews.
