Joan M. Grassmuck

Joan M. Grassmuck of Lake Saint Louis, MO, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, at the age of 84. Daughter of the late Joseph & Margaret Birkemeier, wife of the late Donald A. Grassmuck; devoted mother of Michael (Patricia) Grassmuck, Stephen (Judith) Grassmuck, William (Sandra) Grassmuck and Laura (David) Scissors. Loving Grandmother of Daniel, Richard, Amanda, Erica, Rachael, Zachary, Sara, Lindsay and Angela. Great Grandmother of Ava, Gage, Ayden, Sawyer, Abigail, Emmett, Sydney, Brody, Fitzgerald, Carter, Tucker, Elijah and April. Dear Sister of Marvin Birkemeier and the late Elmer Birkemeier, Irvin Birkemeier, Herbert Birkemeier and Mildred Hass.

Joan was born on March 6, 1938, to a loving family where she was raised on a farm and loved all animals. She married Don on May 18, 1957, celebrating 51 years of marriage until Don’s passing in 2008. Don and Joan started a business together in 1965, Planet Tool & Engineering. Through years of hard work and dedication to her husband, the business prospered and strives to this day.

Most of all, Joan enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. While raising a family, she loved to go camping, boating and other activities that were family oriented. Later in life she developed a passion for traveling and was always looking for travel partners. She loved to explore new places and meet new people.

Joan was a very caring and loving woman and gave much of her time and resources to others. She had a wonderful smile and a charming way about her that made people feel welcomed and loved. Joan has touched so many lives and made a positive impact on those that knew her. She will be dearly missed by all of us.

Memorials may be made in Joan's name to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Five Acres Animal Shelter.
