Waite, Joe Neal. of St. Charles, Missouri, passed Sunday, July 28, 2018, at the age of 58. Cherished son of the late Bill Waite and Charlotte Waite; dear brother of Lee (Gabi) Waite and Billie Ann Waite; loving uncle of Sarah Waite and Bill Waite.
Joe graduated from Orchard Farm High School in 1977 and then studied business at Missouri Baptist University. After college Joe started a strand-mapping business, “Waite International.” A strand map outlines the location of every utility pole in an area, and in the 1980’s a cable TV company needed a strand map before bringing cable TV to a community. Later in his strand mapping career, Joe lived and worked in Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic.
Chris Estep worked with Joe on-and-off from 1994 through 2006. Chris wrote about Joe, “Thousands of memories and they all make me smile”. Joe loved to talk about anything and was a pleasure to be around. Free Sprint Fridays were my favorite. Joe will be missed.
Ramon Diaz met Joe in the mid 1990’s. He was working a job in Miami when they met. Joe needed a helper and Ray started working with him. When the job was completed Ray decided to travel with Joe and for many years they traveled and worked together across the United States doing. Ray stayed in Joe’s Mom’s, Charlotte's, basement when in St. Charles. In 2001 Ramon decided to pursue a career in law enforcement which was always his dream and Joe supported him all the way on the venture. Joe still stayed with Ramon on his down time in Florida. Ray never worked in Dominican Republic with Joe, but When Joe came back from Dominican Republic he came to Florida for a few days to see Ray and his family and then went to Missouri. Ray and Joe traveled a great portion of our country together. Ray wrote, “Joe was like a father to me! “
Joe loved to watch sports on TV, especially the baseball Cardinals. During his younger years, he often went camping with his siblings, played football at Orchard Farm during high school, and enjoyed spending time with family. Joe was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, those who would like to remember Joe financially, can donate to a Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology scholarship fund in Joe’s name; “Joe Waite memorial scholarship fund."
