John B. Coker of Camdenton, MO, passed away at the age of 80 on Sunday, September 27, 2020. John is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Coker; his children, Shelley Coker and Sheila (Andrew) Boland; his grandchildren, Jonathan (Kali) Hood, Ashley Lewis, Nicole (William Jr.) Kinner, Brittany Kipper, and Jordan Lewis; his great-grandchildren, Cannon, Bentley, Skye, Joselyn, Remi, and Aubrey; and his siblings, Fred Coker, Betty Felcher, and Lois Riggs.
He was preceded in death by his foster parents, Ray and Dorothy Mechlin; and his siblings, Louise Collins, Harold Vonder Bruegger, and Stanley Coker.
Formerly of Foristell, in his younger years John enjoyed spending time in his garden and took pride in the work he put into maintaining it before moving to Camdenton. Before he retired in 2001, John was a truck driver for Kroger and Consolidated Freight Ways. He belonged to both the SBN Christian Club and the Teamsters Union.
He was known to many friends as “Joker” and was a jokester who loved teasing and pulling practical jokes often. John loved the outdoors and fishing but only when they were biting. One of John’s favorite drinks was an ice-cold Snapple and he liked the facts that were always included on the lids. There was a special place in his heart for his pets and he was the proud owner of several yellow labs over the years with his lab companion Hazel surviving him. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to
the American Cancer Society.
