John D. Deatherage
April 19, 1959 — September 11, 2021
John D. Deatherage of O’Fallon, MO, passed away at the age of 62 on Saturday, September 11, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Thelma Deatherage; and his sister-in-law, Marilyn Smith. John is survived by his wife, Donna Deatherage; his brother, Scott (Susan) Deatherage; his sister-in-law, Sharon (John) Pollick; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Jean) Lynn; his nieces and nephews, Katie (Ryan) Kelly, Sandra (Joe) Ingrassia, John (Tammy) Pollick, Shannon (Anthony) LeRuvaliere, Keith Lynn, Kenneth Lynn, III, Tammy Hale, and Melissa Hale. John was self-employed as an over-the-road truck driver, and he truly enjoyed being out on the open road. However, he always looked forward to coming home to his sweetheart. They shared their love of music with each other, and John introduced Donna to some of his favorite bands. Although he enjoyed listening to Aerosmith most of all, he also had a special fondness for Queen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Bob Seger. On quiet nights, John also liked curling up on the couch and watching old movies with Donna, particularly John Wayne films. He was such a fan of John Wayne that he even tried out the Duke’s BBQ recipes. And, to go along with his John Wayne persona, he was also a firearms enthusiast who loved showing horses as a kid. John loved to eat and liked to go out to restaurants with friends and family. He was an avid reader of James Patterson’s novels. Whenever he could, John liked to go out hunting with his brother. John will be remembered as a fun-loving guy who was quick with a joke and had a constant twinkle in his eye, almost as if there was always something to laugh about. He was a wonderful man and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the COPD Foundation.
