John L. Greenley

John L. Greenley, of Saint Peters, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the age of 56, after a heroically, courageous battle with cancer. Devoted son of Lawrence Greenley and the late Patricia Greenley; loving partner of Jennifer L. Keen; dear brother of Pamela (Chris) Martin, Steven (Laurie) Greenley, and Sharon (Terry Welty) Greenley; cherished uncle of Rose Martin, Patrick Greenley, Maggie Greenley, Benny Greenley, Hannah (Tom) Velier, Jesse Bartin, and John Bartin; and great uncle of Aubrey Velier; dearest son-in-law of John and Marilyn Bartin.  John is also survived by Jen’s brother, Tim (Katina) Bartin, and his aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends, as well as his adventurous and beloved dog, Milo.  

John proudly served as a police officer for 28 years with the St. Charles City Police Department and was a dedicated public servant to his community. He was carefree and wickedly quick-witted. He was someone to rely on and was always there for his friends. Usually the life of the party, John was fun-loving and genuinely appreciated by all. 

John loved his family dearly, and he was always so generous. He often greeted his nieces and nephews with a green handshake, and he always found the most thoughtful gifts for everyone.  

John loved traveling and spending time with Jen. He loved music and some of his favorite bands included The Beatles, Elvis Costello, Chris Isaak, Pink Floyd, and Muse. He was a huge supporter of live music and could be found on stage in costume, rocking it out during El Monstero shows.  

John was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Backstoppers or St. Jude Children's Research or Five Acres Animal Shelter.
