John J. Murphy

Murphy, John J. of O’Fallon, Missouri passed away on Monday April 16, 2018 at the age of 88.

Beloved husband of the late Charlene Murphy; devoted father of Susan Murphy and Carolyn (Paul) Lippold and dear friend and companion Jean Lindsey. John is preceded in death by his parents John Murphy and Eva Barton and siblings James Murphy and Catherine Murphy.

John served his country proudly in the United States Air Force.  He was a devout Catholic and a parishioner at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church before moving to O’Fallon, MO and joining St. Barnabas Catholic Church.    He worked for Union Electric as a project estimator and retired after 44 years.  After he retired he was a Docent for the St. Louis Zoo.    He belonged to many organizations such as the Live Wires Retirement Group, McBride High Alumni and Woodsman Golf League. He enjoyed trout fishing, golfing, traveling, bowling and most importantly spending time with his family. He loved his canine companions Bows and Charly. John was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that memorial donations be made to the St. Louis Zoo in John’s name.
