John J. Rufkahr

Rufkahr, Sr., John J., of St. Charles, Missouri, died on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at the age of 87. Dearest husband of the late Eileen D. Rufkahr (nee: Slocum), dear son of the late Anthony and Sarah (Conoyer) Rufkahr; devoted father of Ken Rufkahr, John (Barb) Rufkahr, Jr. and Linda Ann Rufkahr; beloved grandfather of 5 and great-grandfather of 6; dear brother of Leo F. Rufkahr, Margaret Steimel and Annie Smith. He is preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Harris and brothers, Norbert, Bernard and Anthony Rufkahr and his grandson, Chad Rufkahr. John’s professional journey led him on his travels through life as an electrician with Dickherber Electric for thirty-five years; and not to neglect his community, John was awarded the Claude Jacobs award for service to St. Charles Jr. Baseball as a manager, coach, and umpire; was named Man of the Year for service to St. Charles Boys Club, where he served as coach and referee; was elected to the St. Charles County Hall of Fame for excellence and for baseball player and manager and held the title of Past Club Champion of Bogey Hills Country Club Memorials may be made to Emmaus Home or St. Vincent DePaul Society.
