John R. Chrum

John R. Chrum, of St. Charles, MO, passed away Friday, April 24, 2020 at the age of 74. Devoted husband of 53 years to Eileen Chrum (nee Schiller); loving father and father-in-law of Michelle (Mike) Hoffmann, Mimi Chrum, and Larry (Shellie) Chrum. Adoring grandfather to Philip, Luke and Molly Hoffmann; and Mallory, Camilla, Colette and Cael Chrum. Dear brother of the late Salvatore (Elizabeth) Chrum, the late Joseph (Maureen) Chrum, and JoAnn (George) Lang; Loving uncle, great-uncle, a great-great uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

John adored his grandchildren and being with family and friends as often as possible. His favorite things to do over the years included having Game Night with family and friends, watching baseball and football, weekly golf outings with is buddies, watching his westerns, and especially making Pizzelle cookies for everyone at Christmas time. During his retirement, John became novel woodworker and created many personalized pieces of furniture. He was a fun loving man that enjoyed life and family. He never met a stranger; he would swap stories with anyone he could, would offer help to anyone he saw needed it, would go out of his way to be generous and kind to people always being sure they had what they needed: cookies, dinner, a ride home, someone to chat with. He will be greatly missed.

John had many family and friends who were near and dear to his heart. He was happiest when he was around everyone he loved. A memorial celebration will be planned for a time we all can be together. In lieu of flowers and as a lasting tribute, small memorial contributions can be made toward planting a memorial tree and a legacy bench to be placed at one of the City of St. Charles parks. Checks can be made payable to Eileen Chrum with 'John's Tree' in the memo section. Attendants will be available to collect condolences during the funeral. We will have a celebration of life and reception at that park in the future.
