John Robert Hollingsworth

John Robert Hollingsworth, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Peggy Hollingsworth; cherished son of the late Dr. Gordon Charles and Antoinette Hollingsworth; devoted father of Samantha (Vicente Lopez) Hollingsworth-Lopez and Mandy (Michael Snyder) Hollingsworth; loving grandfather of John Lopez, Rose Lopez, Jacob Snyder and Elizabeth Snyder; dear brother of Janet Goodrich, and the late Judy (Richard) Moore and Donna Hollingsworth.

John proudly and honorably served in the United States Army and Navy during the Vietnam War and was a retired Sheriff’s Deputy with the St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department where he served on the SWAT team, EOD, and as a firearms instructor. He earned the designation of Marksman in both his military service and police work. John was a member of the Harvester VFW, Post 2866. He enjoyed cowboy action shooting and was an avid hunter and big game hunter and enjoyed fly-fishing. John also was a flight instructor who taught aerial acrobatics and a gunsmith. He was quiet and reserved, yet was a good leader and instructor, who made lasting impressions on everyone he met. John was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
