John Russell Fischer of Saint Louis, Missouri, on Sunday February 4, 2018, at the age of 77. Beloved husband of 54 years to Carol Fischer; cherished son of William and Betty Fischer; devoted father of Debbie (Eric) Teson and Steve (Anne) Fischer; loving grandfather of Meghan, Shay, and Kyle Fischer, Erika, Korey, Casey, and Cameron Teson; treasured great-grandfather of Gavin Fischer; dear brother of Bill (Angela) Fischer, Peggy (Jim) Grant, and Kim (Sam) Rinella. John is preceded in death by his father William Fischer, brothers-in-law James Milliron, Richard Prisner and Roger Trimpe and sister-in-law Joanie Trimpe.
John graduated from Quincy High School and went on to attend Montana State College and Northeast Missouri State College on a basketball scholarship. He then joined the United States Air Force and married Carol (Trimpe) on February 23, 1963. He pursued a career at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing where he worked as an expediter and retired after 37 years. A talented athlete, John was active in many sports, especially basketball which he played from high school until age 70. He was inducted to the Blue Devil Hall of Fame at Quincy High School in 2001 and participated in the Senior Olympics and the Missouri Show Me Games. Of all his accomplishments in life, John’s greatest joy was his seven grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
