John W. Haight Jr.

December 21, 1964 — September 1, 2021

John W. Haight Jr. of Foley, Missouri, passed away at the age of 56 on Wednesday, September 1, 2021.  Loving husband of Ronda Haight; devoted father of Justin, Brayden, and Jayce Haight; beloved brother of Gary (Jan) Batteiger, Steve (Shirley) Batteiger, and Kathy (Al) Bull; and dear son-in-law of Mary Burns.  John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Haight, his nephew, Drew Daller, and his father-in-law, Robert "Bob" Burns.  He also leaves behind his precious, Chocolate Labradoodle, Sadie Girl, who will miss him dearly.

John proudly and honorably served in the United States Marines Corps for six years, and he was deployed on the USS Coral Sea during “Operation El Dorado Canyon.”

He met the love of his life while out with his friends shooting pool, and it was love at first sight.  He was a compassionate man who was dedicated to his family, and he cared for everyone he knew or even just met.  And, he pretty much never knew a stranger.  He was a hard worker and provided for his family well.  He had a great sense of humor and liked to have fun wherever he went.

To say John was passionate about being a sports fan was an understatement.  He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, and he lived and breathed silver and blue.  He took so much pride in the Cowboys, that he even had a Christmas tree dedicated to the team.  Even though he yelled at the TV loud enough for the boys to hear him in Texas, sometimes his cheering didn’t pull them through.  It was in those times that his brother Gary felt the need to send John sympathy cards for the loss of the game.  Throughout the years, he coached many teams, not only for his boys but his friends as well.  He could often be found on the sidelines cheering the loudest and encouraging everyone to have a great time.

For fun, John liked to travel.  He loved his vacations, especially to Hawaii, cruises with his family, and other vacations at the beach.  He also looked forward to going to Indy to put up flags for NASCAR.  He was fond of music and enjoyed going to concerts.  John was a proud Metal head, and he shared his enthusiasm with his sons.  However, he liked all genres of music and even went to country music concerts with his wife.

John will be remembered for his infectious laugh and great smile.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to Camp Hope or the Wounded Warrior Project.
