Joseph D. Flood

Joseph Daniel Flood, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Mary Catherine Flood; cherished son of the late John and Mollie Flood; devoted father of Shannon Joseph Flood and Glennon Joseph (Christine) Flood; dear brother of the late Father James Flood and the late Jack (Carol) Flood. 

Joseph Flood was married to his loving wife for 63 wonderful years, and together they shared a passion for dancing. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership.

Joseph had a distinguished career as a mechanical engineer, dedicating his talents to McDonnell Douglas and Boeing, where he worked on some of the most significant projects in U.S. history, including the United States Space Program’s Mercury and Gemini missions. His intelligence, meticulous attention to detail, and strong work ethic were hallmarks of his career. He retired in 1999, leaving behind a legacy of innovation and contribution.

A devout Catholic, Joseph's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He valued education and was passionate about learning, especially science fiction literature, which sparked his imagination. He enjoyed golfing and found joy in coaching his sons' sports teams during their younger years. His witty, intelligent sense of humor brought smiles to those around him.

Above all, Joseph cherished his family. He was a dedicated and loving husband and father always offering support, guidance, and love. His family meant everything to him, and he was deeply loved in return.

Joseph will be remembered for his brilliance, unwavering work ethic, and the deep impact he made on everyone who knew him. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Memorials may be made in Joseph 's name to Tunnel to Towers & St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
