Joseph "Joe" Kelly, Jr.

July 4, 1945 — January 24, 2023

Joseph "Joe" H. Kelly, Jr., of Saint Charles, MO, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at the age of 77.  Loving and steadfast husband of Kathleen "Kathy" Kelly (nee Schmidt); beloved son of the late Joe and June Kelly; devoted father of Christina "Tina" Kelly and Bryan (Carrie Fitzgibbons) Kelly; cherished papa of Grace Kelly and Jameson Fitzgibbons; dear brother of Mary (Charles) Geno and the late Thomas (Rosie) Kelly. Joe is also survived by a host of treasured nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War Veteran.  He belonged to the American Legion of St. Charles and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He graduated St. Mary’s High School in 1963 and went on to receive his master’s degree from Lindenwood University. He retired from Boeing in 2012 after more than 30 years.  His career assignments led him to travel and explore the world.  Joe and Kathy were married for 54 loving years and enjoyed traveling with family and friends.  He was a dedicated and caring husband, father, and papa who always encouraged them to do their best and never give up.

Joe was known by many for his strong work ethic, intelligence, and humor.  He was happy to share an entertaining story from his past that was quick witted, exciting, and usually had an important life lesson mixed in.  Joe was a model train enthusiast and worked on the Zooline Railroad in his retirement. He was also an avid woodworker. He enjoyed making furniture and was always more than willing to provide his woodworking services for Grace’s Girl Scout Troop. He loved history, dogs, the outdoors, and feeding the deer and birds and was a stranger to no one.

Joe was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Joe's name to Duchesne High School, Saint Charles, Missouri.
