Joy Laverne (nee Michel) Clermont, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, on February 29, 2008 of St. Charles, MO, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 76 years of age. Mrs. Clermont was born and raised in Hartshorn, MO. She attended Summersville High School. From 1949 until her death she lived in St. Louis and St. Charles, MO. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 33 years, where she retired as a unit manager from the Ferguson branch. She also worked in the general office, for Mr. Zane Barnes, President of Southwestern Bell. She was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, where she served as a treasurer and a Community Activity Chairperson. She was on the Board of Managers of the YMCA of North County, a former Secretary of the Ferguson-Berkeley Chamber of Commerce, and served as president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local One Auxiliary, where she was able to raise thousands of dollars for union members; she was also a member of the St. Louis Labor Council, member of the St. Louis Label and Service Trade Council. Beloved wife of Bernard (Benny) Clermont; dearest mother of three daughters, Mrs. Sandra Stewart--(Wil) Rollins, St. Charles, MO, Mrs. Pamela (Tim) Hauk, St. Peters, MO, and Mrs. Vicki (Gary) Koenig, St. Charles, MO; two sons David (Leta) Sutherland of Wright City, MO, and Stephen (Karen) Sutherland of Warrenton, MO; three stepsons, Dennis (Kim) Clermont of St. Peters, MO, Wayne (Jill) Clermont of St. Charles, MO, and Chris (Sheila) Clermont of O'Fallon, MO; two stepdaughters Mrs. Sharon Dalton of St. Peters, MO and Mrs. Debbie Alles of Oakville, MO. Dear sister of June Michel of St. Louis, MO and the late Charles W. (Nadine) Michel of Hartshorn, MO. Our dear grandmother of 18, great-grandmother of 7, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to many.
