Judith “Judy” Catherine Mika of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the age of 80. She was the beloved wife of 58 years to the late Chester Mika who preceded her in death by 16 months; cherished daughter to the late Bert and Evelyn Christine; devoted mother of Christine (Jonathan) Neuman and Martin Mika; and loving grandmother of Alyssa (Ryan) Philpot, Kaitlyn Barnes, Jonathan Barnes, Alexandria Barnes, and Andrew James “AJ” Barnes.
Judy was first and foremost an amazing Wife and a dedicated Mother, but in her free time she was both a bank teller for many years and then an Exceptional Education paraprofessional for Ft. Zumwalt North Middle School where she was well respected by both authority and peers and loved deeply by the students whose lives she touched. Judy was a dedicated Girl Scout Leader to a group of very special girls who learned how to camp, cook, make homemade chocolate candies, create macrame plant holders, make plaster of Paris door stops, and design-stained glass ornaments among lots of other skills over the 6 years. Judy was an amazing cook who loved to spend time cooking with her grandkids. One of her last projects before passing was to put together individual cookbooks for each grandkid to share her favorite recipes so that her memory can live on through them. Judy loved to spend time on the river boating with family and friends and was the owner of CB’s Boat Club with her husband, Chet. In her free time, Judy was an avid reader and she liked to quilt, but most of her free time was consumed with puzzles. The walls of Judy’s house are the home to many framed puzzles that reflect her various passions to include horses, egrets, trains, and landmarks that she and Chet visited over the years. Judy loved her five grandchildren more than anything. She enjoyed taking them on vacations, having one-on-one time with each of them, taking them shopping and to the movies, playing board games, and creating photo albums of all of their adventures. Every year, Judy would buy a personalized ornament that reflected each grandchild’s passion or milestone for that year. Judy is now reunited with the love of her life and is at peace. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, Judy would like donations made to the Shriners Children's in her name. She fell in love with the little kid in the bowtie on the commercial and she wants to make his world a little better.
