Memorials may be made to the St. Charles Presbyterian Building Fund. Stansbery, Rev. June K., of St. Charles, Missouri, died on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at the age of 84. Dear daughter of the late Cyrus Dewey and Mabel Stansbery; loving sister of Edna (Bob) Rooney and Rev. Dr. Leslie E. (Margaret) Stansbery; cherished aunt of Robert (Nancy) Rooney, Sharon (Arthur) Lowell, Mark Dietrich (Yoshie) Stansbery, Paul Andrew Stansbery, Joy Kristine Sickles and Todd Peter (Nancy) Stansbery; dear great-aunt of Brenden and Dillon Lowell, Blaine Cyrus and David Stewart Sickles, and Peter Nystrom and Peggy King Stansbery. She is preceded in death by her infant brother, Dale Leon Stansbery. June attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa, and graduated with a Minor in Music. Her first position after college graduation was as the Pastor's Secretary at First Presbyterian Church of Hannibal, Missouri. The Pastor resigned six weeks later, and June's responsibilities increased as she formatted the worship services and even led Sunday evening worship. Soon, June found herself attending McCormick Seminary to receive training in Christian Education. After graduating from McCormick Seminary, June moved to Galesburg, Illinois, to First Presbyterian Church where she was able to use her Christian Education and Music skills. June then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to work at Immanuel Presbyterian. While there, she received her Masters in Music Education from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She served in two positions in the Washington D.C. area in Silver Springs and Bethesda, Maryland, followed by a position at the Christ Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona. At Christ Church, she was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament on September 11, 1977, in the Presbyterian Church (USA) 32 years ago. In 1978, June began working in the Synod of the Pacific in the San Francisco Presbytery as a Christian Education Consultant, a position she held for four years. June then came to St. Louis in 1986 and was part of the staff of the Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy until her retirement, but we all know June never really retired. For the next 20+ years, she remained very active with Bell and Adult Choirs. She also assisted with pastoral duties as needed, including working in stated supply in many churches in the Presbytery. June's dream was an inclusiveness with strong dedication to Christ and His Church, so that the justice and mission in the world may flourish for all people. While living at Parkside Meadows, she remained active being a President of the Council.
