June L. Fierling of O’Fallon, MO, passed away at the age of 86 on Friday, January 24, 2020. She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Charles Fierling; her children, Lynda (the late Barry) Nimtz, Robin (Randy) Pressy, and Brad Fierling; her eleven grandchildren; her nineteen great-grandchildren; her two great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Gene (Judy) Kelch; her sister-in-law, June Brown; and her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Lennie and Isabel Kelch; her grandsons, Adam Nimtz and Shawn Kottmann; her great-grandsons, Evan and Ethan Zielke; and her sister-in-law, Edna Gentemann.
June was active in many organizations throughout the St. Charles area. As a member of Assumption Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary at the church, faith was always important to June and she also volunteered her time to serve as a lunch lady at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School. June also belonged to the Red Hat Society and the St. Charles Police Auxiliary. She and her husband Charles owned and operated the IGA stores in St. Charles from 1956-1983.
Softball was June’s favorite sport and throughout her life she participated as both a player and coach. She coached the 1968 St. Charles City Girls Softball Shop Easy IGA team to a championship, kept score for the men’s league, and coached her son’s softball team for a year as well.
In 1967, June took a trip with her father and her children. For over a month they went west and south, camping and stopping to see all the sights they could possibly see. June always thought of this as the trip of the lifetime and cherished those memories dearly. In her free time, June enjoyed knitting, fishing, frog gigging, horseback riding, motorcycles and watching sports on television – especially her St. Louis Cardinals. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial contributions in June’s name may be made to
