Karen Joyce Lowrey Langston Barbier, born January 29, 1943 to Charles and Vivian Lowrey of North St. Louis County.
She was a student in the Normandy school district. In 1957, became a student at Ritenour where she graduated in 1961. In her time in High School, she was active in the school music program, mainly in choral, and was considered a very gifted soprano soloist. Karen was an active member of the First Baptist Church St John and Edmundson Road Baptist Church where she showed off her musical abilities.
Becoming a semi-professional soloist, she was asked to perform for many funeral and wedding ceremonies. She was an avid artist working with oils on canvas and being particularly gifted making miniatures for doll houses and shadow boxes. She worked briefly for St. John Bank and Trust. On April 21, 1962, she married David Ewel Langston and soon after became a mother and for the next several years was a stay at home mom. After her two children entered high school, she entered the work force and most notably worked for Bendy Engineering and the Coca-Cola Company which she later retired from. In September 1982 she married Terry Jean Barbier. She became a resident of St. Charles, MO and resided at Lake Sherwood where they were active members of the community.
Karen passed away on August 29, 2019, in Lake St. Louis, MO. She is survived by her children, Tamara Lynn (Karl) Arrington, Timothy Seay (Carla) Langston; her grandchildren, Scott (Lois) Anderson, Nicole Glen, Heather (Anthony) Johnson, Brittany Langston, and Andrew Langston; and her great-grandchildren, Natalie, Victoria, Nicholas, June, Emma, Lucas, and Gavin.
