Karl "Whitey" Robert Schalk

Karl "Whitey" Robert Schalk, of O'Fallon, MO, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the age of 93. Beloved husband of the late Mary Jane Schalk; cherished son of the late Martin and Agnes Schalk; devoted father of Michael Robert (Mickey) Schalk, Rita Jane Schalk, Patrick Bruce (Susie) Schalk, and Glennon Eric Schalk; loving grandfather of Robert Schalk, Travis (Ashley) Schalk, Lindsay Schalk, and Danielle (Kevin) Brickey; precious great grandfather of Lily Guthery, Natalie Brickey, Cole Wehmeier, Sadie Schalk, Weston Brickey, Patrick Schalk, Karlee Brundick, and Madison Schalk; great-great grandfather of Theo Guthery; dear brother of the late Earl Schalk; beloved uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Karl dedicated himself with pride and honor to the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War with distinction. He remained a steadfast member of the Hoisting Engineers Local 513 for an impressive 75 years, contributing to the American Legion and VFW in O'Fallon as well. Karl found joy in the simplicity of life, taking pleasure in tasks like mowing the yard. His presence was cherished, and his absence leaves a profound void for all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Karl 's name to Community Living or Special Olympics.
