Kathy Inez Barton (nee Lewis), of Troy, MO, died peacefully, at home, Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the age of 84 with her family at her side. Beloved wife of the late Ezra Golden Barton, although nine years of age separated them, they died only 8 weeks apart. She was the cherished daughter of the late Andrew and Gladys Lewis. Devoted mother of Cheryl (Raymond) Devlin, Teena Harker, Steve (Linda) Harker, and Ruth (Hallie Lindemann) Harker; step mother to Paula (Gary) Barton, Eddie Barton, and Bruce (Sue) Barton; loving grandmother of Terrah, Faith, Joey, Jessica, Andrea, Grant, Ali and Max ; treasured great-grandmother of Gavin, Hayden, Nora, Clay and Coral and the dear sister of Trula Wilson.
Kathy was super high energy and a light to others. She never gave up on anything, anyone, her dreams, or life, no matter what adversity she faced. Kathy was a kind and caring woman who had a big heart. She was a school bus monitor for disabled children at the Troy School District until recently, when she got sick. When her family tried to persuade her into retiring, she wouldn’t even consider it. She loved “her kids”. She found great pride in being able to take care of others.
Kathy loved all animals, but especially koalas. In her free time, Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who she adored. Kathy was a wonderful woman, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. You couldn’t know her and not love her. Even though her family was cheated out of their Sunday ritual of playing cards with their parents over the past year, the memory of Kathy’s laughter will forever be embraced in their hearts. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Kathy's name to The Backstoppers and your local animal shelter.
