Katy Royston (nee Greenstreet), of St. Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at the age of 99, just shy of her 100
th birthday on March 14, 2021. Beloved wife of the late James F. Royston; cherished daughter of the late George and Carrie Greenstreet; devoted mother of Judy Albers, Pat Weitekamp, and Barb (Jim) Rigsby; loving grandmother of Amanda (Tom) Weitekamp and Brad (Katie) Weitekamp; treasured great-grandmother of James, Mary, and Anne Weitekamp; dear sister of the late Margaret Twillegar.
Katy was a loving, supportive and generous woman who always put her family and others before herself. She came to St Louis looking for work and found it at Curtis Wright where she met her husband. She was a devoted stay-at-home mom who sewed all her daughters’ clothes, taught them to cook and sew, gave them chores and responsibilities to teach them to earn what one wanted beyond needs. She was always there for each one as they shared their school days with her and faced childhood challenges. As a family, they loved spending most of their summers at the Lake of the Ozarks, experiencing all that nature has to offer. Katy was a member of Eastern Star and later worked as a school librarian at an elementary school, where she fed her love of reading and working with the children. After retirement, she and Jim spent their time travelling across the country and Europe, when not in the Ozarks. Katy’s later years were surrounded with her family, always sharing her fun sense of humor. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
