Ken Ludwig

June 16, 1958 — October 27, 2024

O'Fallon, Missouri

Ken Ludwig, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the age of 66. Loving husband of 43 years to Jo (Appelbaum) Ludwig; devoted father of Lauren (Brian) Lee and Carolyn (Brandon) Huninghake; cherished grandfather of Addie & Lincoln Lee, and Flynn & Porter Huninghake; son-in-law of Bernadette (Goolsby) Appelbaum; brother-in-law of Judy (Wayne) Roberts and Leo (Linda) Appelbaum; Uncle of Jessie (Tom) Bahr and Jenny (Bryant) Merriman; and brother of Karen (Scott) Chain and Jim Ludwig. Ken is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Leo J. Appelbaum, Jr., and his parents, Norman and Carole Ludwig.

Ken lived his whole life in service and love in all ways. He began his professional pharmacy career in 1981 caring for the medication needs of lower income populations at the St. Louis City Outpatient Clinic System. From there, he moved to serving the same population by becoming an integral and engaged pharmacist and influencer in multiple roles at Regional Medical Center, also in St. Louis. He changed paths in 1996 to work for the Pfizer Corporation, from which he retired, July 31, 2024. Ken served Pfizer in varied positions over a 28-year legacy career where he remained a constant and exemplary team member, receiving several awards and special acknowledgements for excellence. He gave 200% to every team he was part of with Pfizer allowing him to advocate for and compliment medical care for people across Missouri and many other areas of the US.

His professional life is exceeded in effort and achievement only by the love and deep commitment to his family and friends. He excelled at giving, hugging, cutting your lawn, cooking your steak, or offering his “proverbial” right arm should you need it.

He leaves a legacy of love for his wife, children, and grandchildren characterized by his mercy and generosity for all of us over himself that he displayed always. His gift of mercy and putting everyone else first will continue to imprint every memory and thought of him long into the future.

To say he will be “missed” is an understatement. His essence and heart will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, in thanks to his physicians, Bryan Faller and Ben Voss, memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Baptist Healthcare Foundation’s Cancer Research Fund.
