Kevin Patrick Finucane passed away on August 3, 2020 at the age of 73. He was a kind and loving older brother and a beloved Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend.
Kevin was born on July 16, 1947 in Jersey City, New Jersey. The family soon moved to Wanamassa on the Jersey Shore, where Kevin enjoyed a wonderful childhood. He excelled in school, sports and life around Asbury Park. He was an honor student and star basketball player at St. Rose High School. He was the best athlete and sharpest mind in the family. He loved sports, especially baseball and was a lifelong fan of the New York/San Francisco Giants.
Following high school, Kevin moved with his family to St. Charles, Missouri. He attended St. Louis University, graduating with honors and a Bachelor’s Degree in History/Political Science. He was a college teacher until health problems precluded continuation of his career. Kevin became an observer of all things with a great mind and a sly sense of humor. He knew more about history, sports, politics and the old days in Wanamassa and Asbury Park, New Jersey than the rest of us could ever hope to learn. He always was happy to share his information and smiles with family and friends.
Kevin was dearly loved by his parents Katherine Casey Finucane and James Joseph Finucane, who preceded him in passing. He was a protective and loving older brother to sister Pat Finucane Litzsinger and brother Brian Finucane. Pat appreciated his sense of humor more than anyone and continuously brought happiness to his life. Brian loved to boast of Kevin’s basketball days and broad knowledge. Kevin welcomed Sister-in-Law Susan Wilkinson Finucane and Brother-in-Law Dennis Litzsinger into the family. He was a proud uncle to nephews Christopher Litzsinger, Matt Finucane and Scott Finucane. All Kevin’s nephews followed his example with a love of history.
Kevin and his family are forever grateful to his many caregivers through the years and to his special angel Kishia.
Kevin was a good guy who accepted more than his share of life’s challenges with grace, a sense of humor and no hint of bitterness. His place with God in eternal peace is well earned.
In lieu of flowers, Kevin would enjoy seeing folks provide extra hugs, love and kindness to family, friends and anyone else who looks like they could use a smile or a kind word.
