Schmidt, Kurt W., of St. Charles, MO., died on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at the age of 89. Kurt was the loving husband of the late Betty J. Schmidt (nee: Hall); beloved son of the late William and Irene Schmidt; devoted father of Bradley Kurt (Becky) Schmidt and Brenda Schmidt; dear brother of Mary (Jess) Kash and Kenneth Schmidt; dear brother-in-law of Marylee Schmidt and Robert Stoehner; cherished grandfather of Brandon Taylor, Lindsay (Ryan) Griffin, Laci (Dan) Wright, Dustin Kurt Henning, and Kadie Kolberg; treasured great-grandfather of Marcus Mahaney, Faith Taylor, Zavier Kurtis Griffin, and Violet Wright; also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his siblings Eugene Schmidt and Margaret Stoehner.
Kurt was born, raised, and farmed in Cave Springs, MO. and was a 1943 graduate of St. Charles High School, where he was captain of the football team. He owned Kurt's Gulf Service Station and finished his career after many years with MSD. He was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan; enjoyed golfing and was very proud of his hole in one. Kurt bowled regularly, carrying an average of over 200. He enjoyed horseshoes and was an avid card player. Kurt was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Charles MO. Recently he went on a family trip with each of his siblings to the ancestral farm and church in Germany. He will be dearly missed by all.
