Donald “Donnie” Ell of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018, at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Mary Ann Ell; cherished son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth Ell; devoted father of Peggy (Randy) Skaggs; loving grandfather of Nathan Wright and Emily Wright; dear brother of Janet Bredensteiner, the late Marlene Boschert, and the late Betty Griesenauer; and loving Uncle, Cousin, and Friend to many.
Donnie was born May 18, 1942 and raised in St. Charles, MO. While growing up, he attended kindergarten where he unknowingly met the love of his life Mary Ann Achelpohl. They were later married for almost 56 years and created many cherished memories together.
In his youth, Donnie kept very active. He was a gold glove boxer at St. Charles Boys Club and played countless games of softball, basketball, and dartball. In his adult life he found a love of bowling, golf, and pitching horseshoes. He continued his love of sports by cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and watching NASCAR.
Donnie was also an active member of many organizations and enjoyed fostering friendships with all who crossed his path. From Mopes, to Tubby’s, to the Knight of Columbus as a Third-Degree member of Council 823, he knew no strangers. He also dedicated more than 44 years as a cement mason with local 527, most notably for Heitgerd Concrete, Hemmer Concrete, and finally becoming a co-owner with Kenny Forebeck at River City Concrete.
Above all else, Donnie loved and cherished his family. Whenever able, he enjoyed watching his daughter and grandchildren play sports. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
