Lana Sue Murray

October 8, 1955 — July 5, 2020

Lana Sue Murray of Gilbert, AZ passed suddenly from this life and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at the age of 64. Loving wife of nearly 42 years to Marvin E. Murray, Jr.; beloved daughter of the late Walter Jones and Helen Boyes; devoted mother to Marvin (Smokie) E. Murray, III and Melissa Murray; and dear sister of Sharon Watson and the late Walter Jones, Jr. She is also survived by many other nieces, relatives and friends.

As a certified pharmacy technician for over 30 years, Lana served patients in both hospital and retail settings. Her diligence, kindness and warmth blessed her colleagues and those she served throughout her career.

As a member of the Apache Junction First Assembly of God, Lana faithfully volunteered in several ministries. She shared God’s love with the ill and grieving by writing and sending sympathy cards with the LOVES ministry. She lovingly hand lettered quilt squares with encouraging Bible verses to be sewed into handmade quilts for the sick by the Patchwork Prayer Quilters ministry. When someone came home from the hospital or needed extra help after an injury, she would often cook and deliver meals to them at their homes. She loved to praise the Lord in song and sang regularly with the church worship team.

Lana also volunteered for over five years as a baby cuddler at the Banner Health Neonatal Intensive Care unit. She tenderly cared for new-born babies with serious health conditions and assisted the hospital staff in nurturing these precious new lives.

Lana was an ardent reader enjoying books of various genres but most important to her was daily bible reading and study. She loved God’s Word and found comfort and encouragement in her reading and study of the Bible.

She was talented in crafting beaded jewelry and had taught this skill to numerous ladies over the years in classes conducted at church in the evenings. She loved travel and scrapbooking the adventures she and Marvin enjoyed through the years.

Lana is dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
