Laurence “Larry” Goessling of Maryland Heights, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday March 7, 2018, at the age of 61. Cherished son of the late Edward F. Goessling, Sr. and Helena Goessling; devoted father of E.J. Goessling; dear brother of Chris Goessling, Linda G. (Thomas) Barondeau, Gary (Karen) Goessling, Gail (Thomas) Burke, and Joan (Tim) Matlock. Larry is preceded in death by his brothers Edward F (Sheryl) Goessling Jr. and James Paul Goessling. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Officer Goessling began his career in law enforcement in 1979 at Sunset Hills Police Department. He continued his career at St. Charles Police Department from 1980 until 1985. Officer Goessling was sworn in as a Maryland Heights Police Officer as one of the original 40 officers of this department on August 17, 1985. He retired due to medical reasons on February 20th, 2014. During his career at Maryland Heights, Officer Goessling worked as a patrol officer, Sergeant, School Resource Officer and Detective Sergeant. In 1987, Officer Goessling was the first DARE officer in the area schools. He started programs like neighborhood watch, operation good morning and shop with a cop. Larry was known and loved by many. He impacted so many lives during his career as a Police Officer.
