Lavada Jane Weaver (nee Aubuchon), of St. Ann, MO, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late William Floyd Weaver; cherished daughter of the late Walter Aubuchon, Jr., and the late Jewell Roberts; devoted mother of Cecilia “Ceci” (R.C. Anderson) Cook; loving grandmother of Jeff (Trina) Cook and Casie Andrews; treasured great-grandmother to Riley Cook, Austin and Jordan Andrews; dear sister of Fletcher Sapp, Tyra Ewing and the late Georgia Thompson.
Lavada retired in 1993 from McDonnell Douglas. She was a member for 55 years with the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers.
Lavada was a woman of faith and very proud of her Irish heritage. She was active within Harvester Christian Church for many years.
Lavada embraced life with a passion for quilting, tending her beloved garden, and being an active part of her great-grandsons' lives. Her green thumb and nurturing spirit flourished in the vibrant blossoms of azaleas and irises.
A natural caregiver, Lavada's warm smile and huge heart left an unforgettable mark, on her loved ones. She cherished her title as Granny; she always said, “Getting old is not for sissies” one of the many sayings her whole family finds themselves saying.
An avid reader, Lavada's love for western novels reflected her rich inner world. Her determination, dedication, and resilience in the face of life's challenges became a source of inspiration for those who knew her.
"Granny” was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Lavada's name to American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer's Association or March of Dimes.
