Ehlmann, beloved daughter of the late Edwin and Olga (nee Hemsath) Hackmann; devoted mother of Michelle (Mark) Rood, Mark Ehlmann, Dawn (Gene) Walkenhorst, Dana Ehlmann and Darla Ehlmann; Cherished grandmother of Kyle (Maria) Rood, Kara Rood, Tyler Ehlmann, Courtney (Travis) Szczuka, and Clay Walkenhorst; treasured great-grandmother; dear aunt, sister-in-law, cousin, and friend to many. She was preceded in death by her brothers and their wives Orville (Dorothea) Hackmann, and Glennon (Joy) Hackmann, and her sister, Dorris Kimmerling.
LaVerne was born and raised in St. Charles and grew up on the family farm on Hackmann Road. She married Francis Ehlmann on July 29, 1950. Together, Francis and LaVerne would have five children and enjoy a more than 60-year marriage. The two enjoyed bowling, dances, and playing cards with friends. LaVerne was a member of the Lydia Socety at Immanuel Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Harvester’s Birthday Club #2, where she enjoyed not just the lasting friendships but also lending her talents embroidering the Baptismal cloths presented on behalf of The Club at each Baptism. LaVerne was a great cook, an excellent baker, and an avid quilter and skilled embroiderer. Always social, LaVerne never met a stranger and knew birth dates and maiden names like the back of her hand. She was fun, fun loving, and will be remembered as such and greatly missed. Memorials may be made to the
Alzheimer’s Association,
Immanuel Lutheran Church, or the
