Leroy Mitchell

Leroy Alger Mitchell, of Lake St. Louis. Passed away at home, Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the age of 88. He is the son of Alger Charles and Ollie Mae Mitchell; loving husband of Donna; father of Cynthia (Don) Slater, James (Patricia) Purgahn, Daniel (Sara) Mitchell, and Diane Miller. grandfather of Chad Mitchell, Adam Mitchell, Cassey Mitchell, Larry Maak, James Maak, Bobby Slater, Billy Slater, Moriah Miller, Caleb Miller, Keenan Miller, Dustin Akins, and Taylor Harvey, Rusty Ruf.

Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, brother Alger Allen Mitchell, half brothers Clayton and Raymond, and stepson Mark.

He lived his childhood in St. Ann, Missouri. At the age of 15 he was a trail guide and rode his horse across Lindbergh Blvd. to Bar X Ranch to work. He joined the Naval Reserve at age 17 and went on to active duty in San Diego. Leroy was very proud of his time in the Navy. After his discharge he worked at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft and in 1964 he started his own business as a carpenter, contractor, and home builder. Eventually specializing in custom homes.

Leroy enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and traveling.
