Linda Eileen (Golubchin) Scroggin passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she lived much of her life in the St. Louis area, including the last 14+ years in the Heritage of Hawk Ridge community in Lake Saint Louis. She is survived by her husband, William Scroggin; her children, Laura, Dawn, and Kevin; her grandchildren, Nicole, Lila, Ragaa, and Joshua; and her four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Holly.
A pioneer in her field, Linda worked as an IT Project Manager for nearly 30 years. In the greater St. Louis area, she played an integral role for companies including Boise Cascade Can Co., McDonnell-Douglas, Mastercard, Ralston Purina, BJC Hospitals, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Express Scripts. Upon retirement in 2007, Linda discovered a new passion for genealogy. With her love of research, problem solving and attention to details she published an expansive collection of her family histories. Wanting to share her love of travel and community, she was also a founding member and event organizer for the Out and About organization at Heritage of Hawk Ridge. And "missing the 60's" the first time around due to raising a family, she never lost her drive to see dignity and fairness for all. This dedication led her to become a founding member and leader of the Indivisible We Will Persist organization of St. Charles County. An artist at heart, she rediscovered her love for drawing, and created many works, some of which are displayed in her home. Wanting nothing more than to share with others, she loved to create family portraits and pet portraits for family members and friends.
Linda's wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, February 3, from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. at the Heritage of Hawk Ridge clubhouse, 225 Pigeon Dr. in Lake Saint Louis. The Care & Concern Committee of Heritage of Hawk Ridge requests that attendees bring finger foods and desserts to be shared at the celebration.
The family would especially like to thank the nurses at BJC Hospice, including Evelyn's House, for their care of Linda during the last few months. The family would also like to thank her dedicated and compassionate caretakers from Visiting Angels of O'Fallon for their care of Linda after she returned home from Evelyn's House. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Linda's name to Evelyn's House, 1000 North Mason Rd., Creve Couer, Mo. 63141.
