Loren L. Brandt, Sr. of O’Fallon, MO passed away on January 20, 2020 at the age of 93 years. Husband of Deloris (Laurie) C. Brandt (nee Cosgrove); son of Raymond H. and Hilda Eleanora Brandt, step-son of Edith Brandt; father of Deborah K. Brandt, Donna B. Konradi, Loren L. Brandt Jr, and Raymond M. Brandt; step-father of Becky Woodside and Melissa Dietrich; brother of the late Lorraine H. Jungers and Joy Leona Jones; grandfather to 11, great-grandfather to 5; and Uncle to many.
Loren graduated from Hartley Iowa High School in May 1944 and enlisted in the Army Air Corps at age 17. After serving in the South Pacific with the Pacific Air Services Command (subsequently Far Eastern Air Force) for 2 1/2 years and achieving the rank of Sergeant in the Adjutant Generals Department, he received an honorable discharge. He earned college credits through the Army Specialized Training Program and the GI Bill at Creighton University, Iowa State College, and the University of Iowa.
For almost 34 years, he was a Branch Manager and Sales Engineer for Richards-Wilcox Mfg. Co. of Aurora, IL. He worked with architects and engineers to design products for construction projects and developed automation for industrial applications.
He sang with the Pekin, IL S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. International Championship Chorus from 1968-1976 and served numerous terms as secretary and ticket chairman for their annual music presentations. He helped raise his family in Peoria, IL, from 1955-1976. During this time, he was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and served on the Board of Stewardship, Church Council, and Building Committee for new church construction.
After a transfer to St. Louis in 1976, he made his home in Lake St. Louis for 20 years. In 1997, he moved to O’Fallon MO.
