Lorene Diekamp

Lorene Diekamp (nee: Schwede) of Saint Charles, MO, died Monday, July 13, 2015, at the age of 85. Beloved wife of 63 years to Elmer Diekamp; cherished daughter of the late Herman and  Hulda Schwede; devoted mother of Karen (Jeff) Hitchcock and the late Kathy Diekamp. She is survived by her grandson, Mathew (Janelle) Hitchcock, great-grandchildren, Isaac and Judah, granddaughter, Kathrin (Peter) Thomsen, and great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Lillian. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Alvera Schmidt, Leona Mallinckrodt, and Louise Gravemann, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by brother, Elmer Schwede.
Lorene was a secretary in the Francis Howell School District for many years, and received the Howell of Fame award in 1989. Lorene was a volunteer at NECACC/RSVP. She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ where she enjoyed serving on the Historical Committee, singing in the choir, and acting in skits. She greatly enjoyed travelling and camping. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
