Loretta Jean Watson

July 19, 1931 — August 5, 2021

Loretta Jean Watson (nee Steward), of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away at the age of 90 on Thursday, August 5, 2021. Loving wife of 72 years to Jack R. Watson; beloved daughter of the late Clyde and Letha Steward; devoted mother of Michael (Patricia) Watson, Dennis (Sandy) Watson, and Karen (David) Berryman; cherished grandmother of Jessica (Kirby) Quick, Christina (Brett) Hayen, Keri (Jason) Delaloye, Emily (Jeremy) Burcham, Lyndsey (Justin) Helms, Danielle (Joseph) Villegas, Ryan (Crystal) McCormick, and Jennifer (Kyle) Springer; treasured great grandmother of sixteen; dearest sister of Patricia (the late Harold) Etzkorn and the late David (Maxine) Steward.  Loretta was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Lynn Watson.

Loretta enjoyed volunteering and was the President of the Auxiliary for Christian Hospitals.  She also volunteered with FISH and BJC St. Peters Hospital.  She was a talented seamstress who fashioned her own wardrobe as well as her family’s, even making wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses when it was called for.  Loretta was a snappy dresser with a great sense of style, and she always took pride in her outfits.

In her younger years, Loretta loved to go out dancing with her husband. Together, they belonged to a club in Woodriver, IL and dedicated their Saturday nights to having a great time dancing. She liked to travel as well, especially the family vacations to the Lake of the Ozarks, the Gulf, and the Lake in Sparta, IL.

Loretta was amazing in the kitchen, and she was famous for her fried chicken, though she could cook just about anything.  She also had a green thumb for houseplants and enjoyed nurturing her plants regularly.

Loretta held a special place in her heart for her West Highland Terriers and miniature Schnauzer. She was a kind, good-natured woman who loved her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids very much.  She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Memorial contributions may be made in Loretta’s name to Five Acres Animal Shelter.

Baue Funeral Homes is currently following CDC recommendations regarding mask and social distancing policies.
